Sequent is the first kinetic self-charging smart watch in the world

sequentWhen it comes to smart watches, most of the time we would think of the Apple Watch. After all, it is the marketing juggernaut from Cupertino that has pushed smart watches into mainstream consciousness, and while Apple continues to maintain a level of secrecy over the sales numbers of their Apple Watch, other industry players such as Huawei have also jumped aboard the bandwagon. However, there are other players that are in the smart watch market as well, and Sequent is one interesting proposition for those who intend to get their feet wet without wanting to commit a whole wad of cash upfront. What makes the Sequent smart watch so special?

For starters, the Sequent smart watch is touted to be the first kinetic self-charging timepiece in the whole world from the smart watch range. In other words, there is no need for battery power to keep this thing chugging, which does away with the need to tote around an additional charger whenever you travel, and neither do you need to hunt down those pesky cell button batteries from time to time. As long as the Sequent smart watch is able to detect a level of movement, it should be able to generate enough juice to keep it chugging along just fine.

This revolutionary “SuperCharger” hybrid smart watch boasts of a major breakthrough in technology, where it claims to be able to deliver infinite power supply. Apart from that, being a smart watch it will arrive with a slew of integrated sensors, from a heart rate sensor for fitness buffs, to GPS tracking and a notification system, all of which are connected via Bluetooth 4.0 to your smartphone using its proprietary Biofeedback health & sport app. The asking price for the Sequent smart watch stands at $149 apiece, which makes it highly affordable but bear in mind that it does not have the kind of apps ecosystem that Android Wear and WatchOS have.

G-Shock reveals new G-Steel collaboration with Robert Geller

gst200rbg-1Casio’s G-Shock is a brand name that is always synonymous with quality timepieces — and this is the latest version of their G-Steel watch that they are about to unleash on the world, except that this is a first time collaboration with Robert Geller. The new G-Steel timepiece which carries the model number GST200RBG-1 is a limited edition men’s model that was designed with inspiration by the Tokyo city landscape.

Robert Geller is no stranger in the world of timepiece fashion too, having previously partnered on five consecutive runway presentations at New York Fashion Week: Men’s. Robert Geller shared, “I have been working with G-SHOCK for several years, and was very pleased when we decided to create a watch together. I wore a G-SHOCK watch throughout my teenage years, so it is really exciting to be able to make my own, more grown up version. For the past ten years, I have been producing my ready to wear collection in Japan because I love the quality and care of Japanese craftsmanship. G-SHOCK shares this same love, which is why this collaboration is a natural fit for us.”

The GST200RBG-1 is one of Geller’s “babies”, so to speak, boasting of a black ion plated stainless steel metal band, case and buttons, complete with gold accents on the face as well as a dark fuchsia second hand which makes up his most recent collection. All of the elements will come together to compose of an image of the Tokyo city lights against the buildings at night.

Apart from having G-SHOCK’s legendary structure of shock resistance and 200M water resistance, there are also other technologies thrown into the mix such as an auto super illuminator LED light, neo-brite luminous hands, world time (31 time zones + UTC), five daily alarms, 1/100th second stopwatch and countdown timer and 12/24 hour formats, all crammed in a 52.4mm case. Expect the GST200RBG-1 to cost $420 a pop from this month onward.

Tory Burch reveals first hybrid smartwatch for the year

Tory Burch holiday 2017 TB1597392Tory Burch is more than happy to reveal its very first range of smartwatches that will hit the market this coming holiday season, where this particular line is said to extend the brand’s collection of timepieces even more. It is certainly encouraging to know that they are still going strong in this aspect, having first launched in the fall of 2014. The latest hybrid smartwatch range will be based on THE COLLINS, which comes across as a clean-lined, menswear-inspired design that happens to be one of the best selling timepieces from them.

Arriving in a quartet of distinct styles that will include a navy perforated leather strap with pops of red; a grosgrain fabric strap in a classic navy and ivory color combination; and gold-tone bracelets with toprings in orange or navy, you can be sure that fashionistas will be spoilt for choice.

The Tory Burch Collins hybrid smartwatch has been deemed to be the ultimate convergence of Tory Burch design alongside wearable technology, merging the elegance and simplicity of an analog watch with the capabilities of a world-class activity tracker. It might not look like much on the surface, but you can synchronize it to a smartphone over Bluetooth, making use of its dedicated app that plays nice with both iOS and Android platforms, to take advantage of several features.

Some features include precision timekeeping that changes time zones automatically when you travel, having a second time zone so that you know what time it is back home, notification technology that discreetly indicates when you have a phone call, text or email, activity tracking capability that automatically tracks and monitors daily activities, while keeping track of the length and quality of sleep with the Tory Burch Collins hybrid smartwatch app. Interestingly enough, this is one of the few smartwatches that do not require a charger, since it runs on coin cell batteries that enable extended use.

First connected Casio G-SHOCK Gravitymaster revealed

gravitymaster-bt-mastergCasio’s obsession with rolling out quality timepieces has not stopped over the years, but rather, it has strengthened. The company has revealed its Gravitymaster G-Shock series in the past, but none of them have been up to the quality of this year’s model at Baselworld 2017 — where it is touted to be the first ever connected Gravitymaster G-Shock that has been released. This all new Master of G model will boast of Bluetooth connectivity that will hook up to your smartphone via an app, making it all the more versatile than ever before.

The Casio G-Shock Gravitymaster GPW2000-1A is the first-ever Bluetooth connected model under part of the Master of G series, where it has been specially built for aviation experts. What makes it so special? Well, it comes with connected GPS capabilities that include Mission Stamp, which is a function that will not only record time and location, it can also transmit the information via Bluetooth over to a special Smartphone Link app. This can then be viewed within a flight log.

The GPW2000-1A also carries the distinction of being the very first Gravitymaster model that comes with a longitude indicator, apart from a latitude indicator. This will add a key function to record travel location and history for pilots when they carry out their missions. Additional premium features that Casio has thrown into the mix include a sapphire crystal for minimal scratching, carbon fiber second hand, carbon fiber insert band and a unique carbon band lock insert, where all of these prevents loosening due to heavy vibrations.

Not only that, the GPW2000-1A will arrive with triple time adjust that is made possible thanks to Bluetooth connectivity and G-SHOCK’s GPS Hybrid Wave Ceptor technology. This results in even more accurate timekeeping regardless of where you are, thanks to the receiving GPS satellite signals or terrestrial radio signals from up to half a dozen transmitters worldwide, based on the current location and environment. Don’t expect the new GPW2000-1A to be cheap though, as it has an asking price of $800 when it becomes available from May 2017 onward.
