Razer Phone: Bring it on!

razer-phoneWhen it comes to smartphones, there are many different tiers and models to choose from. Many of the working class would settle for a regular entry level to mid-range handset, but when you look at the flagship collection of smartphones from various manufacturers, that is when the drool starts to flow. Razer might be more famous for their collection of serious gaming peripherals and even the odd gaming laptop or two, but this time around, the company has decided to venture into the world of mobile entertainment through the Razer Phone.

What makes the Razer Phone special? For starters, it lays claim to being the handset with the world’s first 120Hz UltraMotion screen, which will also keep you entertained with Dolby Atmos audio technology and lightning-fast performance. Powered by Android 7.0 Nougat at launch, there will be an Android 8.0 Oreo update available when spring rolls around next year. Using the UltraMotion’s adaptive refresh technology, it will synchronize the GPU and display in order to remove image tearing or lag while driving efficient power usage. The 5.72-inch display happens to be a Quad HD IGZO LCD, where it offers vibrant and sharp images with a wide color gamut.

Your ears will be treated to true cinematic audio via front-firing speakers with dual dedicated amplifiers, while a THX-certified USB-C audio adapter with a 24-bit digital audio convertor (DAC) more or less guarantees continued audiophile-quality sound if you decide to plug in your favorite headphone. The Razer Phone will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset and accompanied by 8GB of RAM, a generous 4,000mAh battery, Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ for rapid charging capability, and dual rear 12MP cameras, all fitted inside a thin aluminum body that measures 8mm. Expect it to retail for $699.99 a pop.
