LunaR is a solar-powered smartwatch

lunar-smartwatchA smartwatch more often than not comes with its very own collection of features apart from simply telling the time. It will, most of the time, be connected to your smartphone via Bluetooth, alerting you of any incoming messages or phone calls so that you know who is contacting you without having to go through the trouble of taking out your smartphone from your pocket. However, smartwatches have far less battery life compared to their standard issue counterparts, for one simple reason: the processor within, screen time, and other chips require plenty of juice compared to just having a few hands ticking away. Why not harness the power of the sun? This is exactly what the deal is with LunaR, a solar-powered smartwatch that has been launched on Kickstarter.

Touted to be the world’s first solar powered smartwatch, the LunaR will incorporate next-generation proprietary technology, integrating various smartwatch features and a solar charging system complete with traditional timepiece aesthetics. Thanks to the transparent solar panel, it does not look unsightly at all, harvesting all of the sun’s power in addition to artificial light around, so much so that if you were to use it on a daily basis, there is virtually no need for you to charge it, ever.

Specially designed for outdoor enthusiasts, avid travelers and lifestyle watch aficionados, the LunaR will arrive in a sleek design alongside discreet notifications for text, calls and social media. Not only that, it has valuable life-tracking and monitoring functionality too, including steps, distance, calories and sleep data.Dual timezone timekeeping makes it a snap for travelers to keep on schedule at home and on the road, and it is also tough enough to be water resistant up to 50 meters. Those who would like to secure the LunaR smartwatch on Kickstarter will be able to do so for $239 a pop.

Casio announces men’s G-Shock G-Steel line of connected watches

gshock-gsteelThe humble watch used to be a tool to tell the time, but over the years, it has ended up as a fashion statement, one that could even cost more than an entire house if it is studded with jewels and other kinds of precious gems. Well, the watch was said to die a slow death with the introduction of smartwatches, but such a prediction has proven to be otherwise. The luxury line of watches continue to sell well regardless of the economic climate among the well-heeled and famous, while the regular watch maintains its market share as smartwatches struggle to break into the mainstream consciousness and being a “must have” item on everyone’s wrists. Casio forges on with its very first connected watches for men, the G-Shock G-Steel line.

In the new G-Shock G-Steel range for men, these new models will boast of Bluetooth connectivity alongside the ability to charge itself up via solar power, now how about that for bringing a 21st century update to the old school idea of a watch? Specially designed to boast of a new layer guard case structure that is not only slimmer than previous generation G-Steel timepieces, the new connected watches will represent the cream of the G-Steel crop. All of the new models will arrive in silver stainless steel (GSTB100D-1A), black resin with a silver stainless steel bezel (GSTSB100-1A), and a special edition black resin with a black, carbon fiber bezel (GSTB100X-1A).

Regardless of which model you decide on, all of these new timepieces will make use of Bluetooth low energy technology in order to pair with smartphones using the G-Shock connected app. This would enable the user to utilize the Phone Finder feature, change time zones, check the battery level, and set a timer or alarm from the app itself. Solar-powered charging capabilities, a new functional face design with a “turbine inspired” level indicator disc and a super LED light rounds off the list of impressive features.

The GSTB100-1A and GSTB100D-1A will respectively come with a $320 and $400 price tag, while the special edition GSTB100X-1A is going to be a tad more expensive at $700 a pop.

Renogy reveals Lycan Powerbox solar-powered generator

renogy-lycanRenogy is a leading expert when it comes to renewable energy, and this time around, it has announced yet another addition to its stable of products — that is, the Lycan Powerbox. The Lycan Powerbox is different from all other portable power sources that you tend to see appear in the market for one simple reason — this is a solar-powered generator, which means it will harness the power of our solar system’s only star in order to keep it juiced up so that it can power other devices as well. We are looking at a commitment to 100% clean energy as well as zero maintenance, thanks to its interchangeable lithium-iron phosphate battery.

Available after its successful Indiegogo campaign, the Lycan Powerbox is a personal energy solution which is able to transform the power of the sun, turning it into easy-to-use and dependable energy. It is not only quiet, it is also highly efficient and of course, a pollution-free solution when it comes to being a portable generator. Unlike the werewolf which can only transform when the moon is out, this particular Lycan works great regardless of whether it is both indoor or outdoor. Apart from that, the Lycan Powerbox prides itself in being the first of its kind to feature a swappable lithium-iron phosphate battery, making it the most reliable and cleanest battery in the world.

Perfect for camping, tailgating or survivalist adventures, the Lycan Powerbox is more than up to the task thanks to a rugged exterior that is more than able to meet unexpected situations. It boasts of heavy-duty wheels that deliver an effortless movement, while extended handles makes it a snap to maneuver it on any setting. Since it is totally battery powered, it is safe to use indoors during emergencies, and works great as an alternative to lower your energy related expenses.

The asking price for the Lycan Powerbox will make anyone blush though at $1,799.99 apiece, although it will most probably be more useful than the iPhone X.

Tertill is a weed-killing robot

tertillWeeds are the bane of any garden. They are so easy to grow and spread, and are extremely hardy. In fact, weeds are more or less useless, being more of a curse on the ground than anything else. However, just like life, we have to contend with the likes of weeds in order to make sure that anything that is worth attaining such as a good and rich harvest deserves to have hard work put in. If you have a reasonably large yard that you would like to protect against weeds using the natural way, how about considering the Tertill weed-killing robot? This is like a robotic vacuum cleaner, except for the garden.

The Tertill is a solar-powered gardening robot that is ready to ship after being a successful Kickstarter project. It tips the scales at 2.5 pounds, as this disk-shaped robot will go about patrolling the garden while it intelligently identifies and whacks all unwanted plants in the vicinity. How does it do so? Magic is not involved, but technology. Tertill makes use of unique design elements as well as a range of sensors in order to patrol the garden daily, as it goes about avoiding plants and obstacles, while looking for weeds to eliminate.

It uses this algorithm to figure out which are weeds and which are your precious plants: weeds are short, plants are tall. Any plant that is tall enough to touch the front of Tertill’s shell will then activate a sensor which will see the robot turn away. If a plant happens to be short enough to pass under the shell, then it will activate a different sensor by turning on the weed cutter. Fret not though, for your young seedlings, there will be protective collars included with each purchase that you can place around short plants and seedlings so that Tertill will avoid them until they are tall enough.

A spinning string trimmer will be in charge of all weed cutting activities, and since it looks for weeds each day, you can be sure that there will be no long weed problems to worry about. Since it is 100 percent solar-powered, this Bluetooth-connected robot will get to work without you worrying about charging it up.
