The SHOTBOX – light boxes don’t have to be terrible

ShotBox

If you have ever used a light box to take photos, you’ve either created your own out of paper and PVC, or bought a very flimsy fabric and plastic framework. That’s only one fraction of the setup though, since you also have to get lights, bulbs that are the same color/power, and find a spot to put everything. They get the job done, but are usually stationary setups, and aren’t easy to quickly break down.

If you’re always on the move and need to be as streamlined as possible, then the SHOTBOX is going to be a lifesaver. This is a collapsible light box made of durable plastic which makes for a quick setup, and has super-bright LEDs that will last for 20,000 hours of use. There are holes in the top of the box to get top-down shots, and it comes with white, black, blue, and green backgrounds for whatever you might need to shoot for.

This measures 17 x 15 x 4″ when folded down, and it’s not going to take up too much more space when it’s fully up. This isn’t cheap at $169, but considering it’s portable, seems a bit more stable than your average box, and has everything you need, it’s not completely far-fetched. It’s likely a more ideal purchase for roving photographers who need every option available in their arsenal without having to drive a semi around.

It takes a multi-tasker to be successful nowadays. There isn’t very much free time to go around anymore when you’re working three jobs to make ends meet, and time off becomes a chance to get ahead on work rather than constantly playing the game of catchup. This means our leisure gadgets like tablets end up being a larger work hub than our phones, which in turn makes us want to get  accessories to make it easier to work efficiently when we’re on the move.

While an iPad mini is great for portability, it’s nice to type on an actual keyboard, and there are million Bluetooth options available on the market. If you prefer to have all of your gear match aesthetically or perfectly, then you’ll love the Brydge 7.9 Keyboard. This is a backlit aluminum keyboard that will help keep your productivity high wherever you go, even in low or no light situations. The Quad Lock Sports Armband keeps your phone secure but accessible during exercise

Quad Lock Arm Band

When you’re working out, you want to have your smartphone on you to not only track your movement, but to provide you with music so you can stay focused. There’s also the off-chance that you’ll want to post up something on Instagram or Snapchat, so you want a way to keep your phone handy, but secured and out of the way for when you’re on the move. Most of the time this equates to an armband, but if it’s plastic or neoprene, it can be a bit of a bother to get it in and out of the pouch.

The folks at Quad Lock were annoyed enough with this issue that they decided to make this Sports Armband as a solution. This ia a dual-stage locking mechanism that will make sure your phone stays securely on your arm, but will easily come off when you want it to. This fully-adjustable lycra armband will fit arm circumferences of 17-38cm or 6.5-15 inches.

You’ll be able to go from tracking your run to taking a call within seconds, snap your phone back in place and take off again without having to fiddle with nestling it safely into a fabric sleeve. This armband by itself will cost around $37, and you can either buy a QuadLock case specific to your type and size of phone, or just get a universal mount so you don’t have to switch out cases. So long as the locking mechanism truly works, there shouldn’t be any fear of your phone leaping to its death.

BlackBerry KEYone pulls one back for BlackBerry

blackberry-keyoneBlackBerry might be deem to be irrelevant among smartphone users, but they do happen to have a new lease of life as shown in the recent MWC 2017 in Barcelona, Spain. TCL Communication, a leading global smartphone manufacturer from China, has decided to work alongside BlackBerry to reveal the latest BlackBerry smartphone to the masses, calling it the BlackBerry KEYone.

The BlackBerry KEYone would be the very first BlackBerry smartphone that rolled off from TCL Communication’s manufacturing lines, thanks to a new brand licensing agreement that was agreed upon just last December with BlackBerry Limited. The BlackBerry KEYone will arrive with a great camera, display and design for a truly special user experience. In other words, the KEYone brings together the best of BlackBerry Limited’s software and security, alongside TCL Communication’s commitment when it comes to reliable and high performing smartphones.

Those who are interested in the BlackBerry KEYone can pick it up from next month onward for €599/ £499/$549, depending on the region in which you live in. Definitely not the cheapest device around unlocked, but then again, it is not going to break the $1,000 price ceiling that the Samsung Galaxy S8 and iPhone 8 are expected to.

The BlackBerry KEYone arrives in an anodized aluminum chassis and soft touch textured back, featuring a 4.5-inch display at 1620×1080 resolution, with Corning Gorilla Glass 4. Merging a touch display with a physical keyboard, users will have more useable space for typing. It will run on Android 7.1 Nougat right out of the box, in addition to BlackBerry Hub so that all of your messages will appear in one consolidated place. Running underneath the hood would be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor with a Qualcomm Adreno 506 GPU, accompanied by Quick Charge 3.0 technology, a 12MP rear camera, and a wide angle 8MP front facing camera.
